Epsom athletes performed well in the Central Surrey Cross Country Championships. Held at Nonsuch Park on Thursday, representatives from each year group competed with some great individual and team performances.
Highlights included eight of our Year 7 runners placing in the top 20 out of 110 runners in the mixed race, including George Bone (Wardroper) who came first place. The Year 7 mixed teams placed 1st and 3rd out of 23 teams and the U15 girls’ and U15 boys’ teams both placed 2nd in their categories. Isla Naidoo (Year 10, Rosebery) placed 2nd in the U17 girls’ race. Nathan Farmer (Year 10, Robinson) placed 6th in the U17 boys, Sienna Raincock (Year 9, Murrell) came 7th out of 48 runners in the U15 girls’ race. William Hamilton (Year 9, Propert) placed 8th and Sam Hern (Year 9, Forest) came 9th in the U15 boys’ race.
The U13As Football team defeated Ardingly College 4-2 to reach the Quarter Finals of the ISFA Cup competition. The 1st team play their postponed ISFA third round match against The Manchester Grammar School next Monday.
In Golf, Epsom’s senior golfers Kris Kim (Year 10, Fayrer), Oscar Lent (Year 11, Propert) and Will Hewett (Upper Sixth, Holman) all won their matches against King’s College School, Wimbledon, to reach the Area Final of the ISGA Cup in March.
The Netball 1st team turned on the style again this week with another dominant performance in the last 16 of the SNS National Cup, defeating Reigate Grammar School 44-18 to reach the Quarter Finals.
Sadly, the 1st XV Rugby team lost out 22-20 in a close match in the Quarter Finals of the National Plate competition against RGS High Wycombe. The U15As also lost 22-17 to a strong King’s College School, Wimbledon, side in the fourth round of the National Cup competition.
The Squash Girls V defeated Wellington 5-0 without dropping a single set across the fixture.
