The Surrey Schools Cup attracted entries from 13 schools this year and almost 90 students took part across the three events.
The Epsom team, consisting of Adrian Tang (G), Henry Ching (G), Jocelyn Chen (Cr) and Canace Lee (Cr), who have all learned how to play bridge since arriving at the College, were awarded the Surrey Schools Salver, for being the top school team in the event designed for those who are new to bridge. This is the first bridge event won by our group of players and is particularly impressive as three of the team competed in the mini bridge tournament last year and two have only been playing for four terms.
The Epsom team narrowly beat the scratch composite team containing the captain, Henri Muller (Rv), illustrating the importance of established pairs and familiar bidding systems.
A second team of four newer players, consisting of Alex Li (F), Steven Li (F), Summie Cheng (Cr) and Aliyah Williams-Gordon (Cr) all took part of the mini bridge competition and were also placed in the top half of their event.
