The RAF cadets, and some selected Army cadets, were given an enlightening talk by RAF Officer Flt Lt Jason Reuben, who is on secondment to the US Space Operations.
Within this organisation is the US Space Warning Squadron, and he explained how the Squadron provides missile warning to the US and its Allies (including the UK).
He was joined by three US Space Force Officers who, amongst other things, explained some their GPS systems and how they track down rogue missiles, the role and design of their satellites and the problem of space rubbish.
After the talk, there was a Q&A session. The questions ranged from: Who are your allies and threats in space? Are there any opportunities for cadets in the Space Force? what is the protocol for an earth threatening asteroid?
All who listened to the presentation and the fascinating answers at the end were delighted to be given this unique opportunity.
