The Third Form History trip allowed pupils to inspect the site of the famous clash between William of Normandy and Harold Godwinson back in 1066. The Third Form learned all about the various claims to the English throne, before touring the battlefield itself to get a sense of the scene nearly 1,000 years ago.
Not only did the day focus on the Battle of Hastings itself, but the pupils learned about the various changes William made to England following his conquest, culminating in a tour of the Norman Abbey built by William following his most famous victory.
It was a great day out and the Third Form behaved admirably all day, returning to Epsom enthused about the term ahead and wanting to learn more about this famous showdown for the English crown.
