The competition consisted of four rounds: the Team round, the Crossnumber, the Shuttle round and finally the Relay.
For the Team round, we were presented with 10 complex questions and had to solve them within the 45 minute time limit, so we formed two pairs and each completed half of the paper, scoring 90% overall.
In the Crossnumber, a math-based version of a crossword, one pair received the ‘across’ clues while the other pair received the ‘down’ clues. They worked together to solve the questions and help each other fill in the grid. This challenge proved to be more difficult than the Team round. However, we scored 80% in the Shuttle round, where each pair’s answers were needed for the other pair to solve the next question.
The final round was the Relay, which added an extra layer of challenge. The two pairs were seated across the room, so we had to run to check answers, retrieve the next question, and pass it on to the other pair. In this round, we scored 56/60.
Throughout the event, all students showcased remarkable problem-solving skills and quick thinking. In the end, we secured 9th place out of 21 schools. The competition was an exciting experience, fostering a strong sense of teamwork and a love for mathematics among all participants.
