The senior and intermediate boys’ swimming teams made the short journey to Eton for a triangular swimming gala against Eton and John Lyon School. The boys put in a competitive performance throughout and managed to finish in second place overall against a strong Eton side.
Epsom’s total of 91 was a respectable score for this group of swimmers. Highlights in the senior races include Trevor Ho (G) finishing first in the 100m Breaststroke, swimming 1:25.78; Dan Marriott (C) finishing third in the 100m Individual Medley in a time of 1:11.13, and taking second position in the 4x50m Freestyle Relay in 1:56.31 (Max Hales (Fa), Trevor Ho, Dan Marriott and Guy Hutchings (Fa)) all swimming sub-30 second times. Special mention to Max Hales for demonstrating perseverance in the 100m Freestyle, 50m Butterfly and 100m Backstroke.
Highlights in the intermediate races include Ethan Sim (F) finishing second in the 50m Backstroke swimming 37.47; Jamie Taylor (P) finishing third in the 50m Breaststroke in 39.31; and Joe Patient (Rn) finishing in third place in the 25m Butterfly in 15.19.
A lovely afternoon for the swimming team who look forward to their next competition in the Michaelmas term, except for the ever-present Guy Hutchings who has served the team well as captain this year as an Upper Sixth member of the team.
