On Sunday 16 June, 41 pupils in the Upper Fourth travelled to the beautiful South Downs in Sussex to complete an assessed expedition for their Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s award. The seven expedition groups completed a three-day backpacking trip, which navigated some stunning scenery and exposed the pupils to beautiful wildlife while hiking up to 22km per day.
The weather was ideal, not too hot, with almost no rain; but pupils faced plenty of other memorable challenges, from difficult navigation to uncooperative livestock.
Dan Reeve, Tracy Muller, Jonine Heslip and Matt Perrins provided the necessary support to pupils during the trip and they speak highly of the pupils’ incredible efforts and bold tenacity.
