A team of six Lower and Middle Fourth pupils attended the South West STEM Challenge at Richmond upon Thames College. The competition pitted numerous schools against each other in a series of challenges from across the spectrum of STEM. The students had been selected based on their academic performance this year and represented the college fantastically in front of staff and their peers.
Challenges included a medical diagnostic challenge, facial recognition of a criminal using E-Fit software, Lego robotics and motorised racing car construction, the latter of which being particularly popular. Particular praise must go to the team of James Kirkman, Reuben Smith and Emma Lord for coming runners up in the diagnostic challenge overall, despite all being in Lower Fourth.
Many thanks to all who took part, Dr Wadsworth-Ray for assistance on the day and to MCS Projects for a super day.
