In Athletics at the Surrey County Championships last weekend 10 of our athletes from Third Form to Upper Sixth competed across 13 disciplines, achieving eight personal bests (PB’s) and taking home six medals (two bronze, two silver and two gold).

At the District Athletics at Kingsmeadow on Thursday, Epsom’s Junior and Inter athletes were in stunning form, winning the overall in each age group – junior boys, junior girls, inter boys and inter girls.

The Boys’ teams also finished 3rd at the prestigious Lord Burghley meeting at Eton last weekend with a real team effort.
Our Cricket teams saw excellent results against Seaford College and Feltonfleet in fixtures this week, with just two defeats across the board. Individually there were half-centuries for Olympia Beumer, Lucy Stephens and Spencer Braithwaite, and five-wicket hauls for Rufus Ford, Nathan Van Maaren and Ralphie Albert.
The U15 Girls have reached the third round of the Surrey and Schools Sports Magazine T20 Cups, with half-centuries from Kiera Johnson, Phoebe Howe and Hannah Dougherty against Caterham.
The U14 Girls have also reached the quarter-final of the Surrey Cup after a 10-wicket win against Fullbrook, with Johnson scoring another fifty.
The U15 Boys are in the quarter-finals of both the County and ESCA T20 cups after good wins this week. Nathan Farmer scored a half-century in one of the games. The U15s also beat Tonbridge to reach the third round of the National One Day Cup. Meanwhile the U12, U13 and U14 boys are also all in the quarter-finals of their respective cup competitions, with Will Hamilton scoring 89 for the U14s.
In Squash Ronnie Hickling and Maja Maziuk represented England and Switzerland U17s respectively at the European Championships. Ronnie won all four of his individual matches in straight sets against Denmark, Italy, Hungary and Belgium, as England just lost out on a medal – finishing 4th. Maja won two of her four matches against Hungary and Ireland and both Epsom players gained huge exposure and experience from their performances.
The Tennis Girls finished runners-up at the ISGTL tournament, losing out in a close final against the hosts Bradfield. The Epsom team had finished top of their group, which included St Mary’s Calne, St George’s and Wellington.
Following her second win this year on the Ladies British Tour, Ciara Moore is now in second place on The British Tour leaderboard and also takes her ranking into the top 40 ladies tennis players in the country!
The U16A, U14A and U13A girls all enjoyed good wins against Cranleigh and St George’s this week, while the Boys 1st team won against Cranleigh, along with the U15AB and U14AB teams, dropping just six sets out of 36 between them.
