Sophie Lonnon (W) placed second at the IET Engineering and Technology Photographer of the Year competition in the youth ‘Design and Production’ category. She attended an evening in celebration of the winners at the British Science Museum last week.
Sophie said: “We were asked to highlight the exciting and creative nature of modern engineering, so there was a huge variety of images. My entry was a close-up photograph of the filament in my lamp, with a space-like background. It was exciting to see all of the pictures enlarged and framed for the exhibition, and each judge discussed my photo with me, they gave me lots of encouragement and made it a very enjoyable and inspiring experience.”
The photographs will be published in the December edition of Amateur Photographer magazine and will be exhibited at Savoy Place in London, the headquarters of the IET.
