Ski Round-Up

Pupils in Year 9 to the Upper Sixth enjoyed the beautiful French skiing regions of Courchevel and Pra Loup over the Christmas holiday

From honing their skiing skills on the piste to riding the luge, ice skating and bowling in the evening – they were action-packed trips for all.

Middle School Ski Trip to Pra Loup

While the majority of Epsom College was celebrating the Michaelmas final roll, Mrs Church-Jones was commandeering 72 pupils and eight staff members on a one-week extravaganza of skiing, socialising and sipping hot chocolate.

After an excitable first day of travel, the group arrived in the beautiful resort of Pra Loup in the French Alps. We were treated to pleasant sunshine with smooth snow on the pistes below, and the pupils quickly set about improving their skiing skills with the help of seven ESF instructors.

The evenings were not just for relaxing either, but featured trips to the local luge, shopping sprees along the promenade, and even a manic carousel of party games on the final night. Happily, the pupils suffered no major injuries and their behaviour reflected the values of the College.

Special thanks to Mrs Church-Jones, Mrs Muller, Mrs Brown, Mr McKay, Mr Hoult, Mr Burnham, Mr Bearfield, Mr Campbell and Mr Finn for enabling the trip to take place.

Senior Ski Trip to Courchevel 1650

The Epsom College Senior Ski Trip this year saw 40 pupils travel to the stunning Three Valleys region in Courchevel 1650, France. Known as the world’s largest ski area, this breathtaking destination offered the perfect backdrop for a week of skiing. From expansive pistes to charming alpine surroundings, the trip provided an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.

During the trip, pupils refined their skills under the guidance of instructors, progressing through technical drills and exploring terrain suitable for all levels of ability. The advanced groups tackled challenging runs, while intermediates zipped around the mountain and beginners made rapid progress. The energy and enthusiasm on display were matched by the incredible setting, with blue skies and perfectly groomed runs adding to the adventure.

Beyond the slopes, the trip was packed with fun-filled activities. From a lively pizza night to bowling and ice skating, the après-ski programme ensured there was never a dull moment.

A special thank you goes to all the pupils for their impeccable behaviour, enthusiasm, and mutual encouragement. Gratitude must also be extended to Mr Johnstone for organising the trip, as well as Mr Lewsey, Ms Kelly, Miss Becky Berger-North and Ms Eva Kennedy, for their unwavering commitment to ensuring everyone had a fantastic time.

The 2024 Senior Ski Trip to Courchevel was a resounding success, leaving pupils with cherished memories, new skills, and a deep appreciation for the joy of skiing.
