Playing away from home, Epsom were knocked out of the U15 NatWest Cup at the quarter-final stage by a physical and competent Wimbledon College XV. While leaving any competition is tough, Epsom should take pride in a strong run in the NatWest Cup, and in taking Wimbledon to the wire.
Despite some pleasing passages of play and scoring three good tries, Epsom struggled to match the physicality of the Wimbledon side at key times in the game. Nonetheless, with ten minutes left on the clock, Epsom were still very much in the game, trailing by four tries to three. Wimbledon, however, were to have the last say, scoring out wide to secure victory. Whilst clearly disappointing for the boys, hopefully valuable lessons will be learnt and the team will bounce back in their next fixture against Hurstpierpoint.
Lost 17-31
