In Rugby this week, there were excellent results once again against RGS Guildford, with nine wins and only three defeats at the senior level.
The 1st XV returned to winning ways despite rotating the squad. Two tries from Adam Koep (C) and a player of the match display from stand-in captain Luke Nesbit (F) ensured the match was never in doubt, despite spirited opposition.
The 2nd XV did well to come through with their unbeaten record intact after another draw, 17-17. Another cool penalty under pressure from Tom Wearne (G) levelled the match late on while captain Matthew Green (F) led the way in this game.
The 3rd XV dominated their match and there were 10 different try scorers in their 60-5 victory.
The U16As secured a 17-8 win in an excellent defensive display with impressive forward play. Henry Dalton (P) was a rock in the Epsom defence as well as relieving pressure with some incisive breaks. The B and C teams lost close matches, with two more tries for Maada-Samu Baihinga (H).
The U15As continued their excellent form with a comfortable 35-7 victory. Jude Clark (G) and Josh King (H) scored twice each in a game they always had under control. The B team won well, too, 29-5 thanks to an excellent first half performance up the hill with Codey Hall (F) in a starring role, while the C team performed superbly to win their fifth match of the season 27-5.
In the U14s, the A team absorbed a lot of pressure from talented opponents but took their chances well with Lucas Schmid (Fa) standing out in a 24-10 win.
The B team went down by a single point but the C team marched on unbeaten with another big win, 43-7, with two more tries from Vladimir Drobnokhod (G) in an impressive team effort. The D team also won well 43-5, thanks to Aarav Rajnikanth’s (Fa) three tries.
In the Lower School, the going was tougher, with the U13A and B teams both battling hard in defence for much of their games before finally succumbing 25-5.
The U12A team battled back to draw 15-15 thanks to two tries from player of the match Oscar Lent (Wa) and a match-saving tackle from Edward Green (Hu). Kyle Ruth (Hu) scored and was the key player in the B team’s close loss.
