Following their victorious performance at the regional qualifier, the team had high hopes. With changeable conditions and a gusty breeze, the pupils made some minor changes to their rocket prior to launch. The flight began well, but a motor failure and strong gust caused the rocket to separate early – meaning it did not reach its target altitude.
Despite the set-back, the team went on to give a highly commended presentation on their rocket, receiving high marks. Unfortunately, this was not enough to see them through to the final three. The team will look forward to competing again next year.
Well done to the College team: Isabella Matson, Tom Stapley, Zac Power, Taan Chiba and Alex Bukur and thank you to Dr Telfer-Mason and Lucy Hagley for taking them to the finals.
