This fixture has always been a highlight of the pupils’ season, but was even more keenly anticipated this year, as they were not able to challenge the parents on court during the previous two seasons. All of the matches were highly competitive; the pupils were slightly stronger at the top end, while the parents were more dominant in the lower seeded matches.
The Headmaster finished his College squash career on a high, teaming up with Mr Fisher (Master i/c Squash) to defeat an Upper Sixth pair in doubles.
The final result was a narrow 7-6 victory to the pupils, but several parents are keen for revenge and have committed to more regular training before next year’s fixture!
After the squash, the players retired to the Headmaster’s house for the traditional buffet supper. The Headmaster made a short speech, expressing his pleasure in witnessing the growth of squash during his tenure at the College, and captain Stan Tanguy (G) also made a gracious and humorous speech, reflecting on the season and thanking those involved in the College squash programme.
