The Religious Studies Department hosted another successful conference for heads of department and teachers of Religious Studies from HMC schools and local state schools: by far the largest conference of its kind on the HMC circuit.
Approximately 50 delegates were in attendance, including speakers from all the major examination boards (AQA, Edexcel, OCR, and WJEC Eduqas) and two keynote speakers: Greg Barker, a leading teacher trainer in RS and former head of department at the University of Winchester, and Rudolf Eliott Lockhart, CEO of the Religious Education Council of England and Wales and husband of our own Beth Eliott Lockhart.
Delegates heard about how to access top marks at GCSE and A Level; attended workshops with representatives of the various examination boards; learned about planned changes to the statutory provision of Religious Education; and shared ideas and best practice with Judith Hooley (from Oxford University Press), Sara Perlmutter (from the Board of Deputies of British Jews), and our own co-presidents of the Epsom College Philosophy Society – Anastasia and Guy.
