The Surrey Tennis Shield is one of very few mixed competitions and a joy to participate in. Four students, Gina Liebenberg (Rv), Charlotte Thesiger (R), Jacob Hansson (C) and Zach Alfahali (C), played two other schools to reach the semi-finals. They played Grey Court School and Claremont Fan Court and won both, before taking on the Wimbledon Junior Tennis Initiative, played at the AELTC, Wimbledon.
The students played well – they played girls and boys doubles, and two mixed teams. We lost all matches, but the games were close and hard-fought. Afterwards, the pupils explored the Wimbledon grounds and went into the Royal Box on Centre Court.
