The co-president of the society, Stefan Vaduva (Upper Sixth, Forest) introduced the speaker, who gave a fascinating talk on his long and varied career in politics.
Chris Grayling was elected as a Conservative MP in 2001, before serving in multiple Shadow Cabinet roles. He then held various ministerial roles in the governments of David Cameron and Theresa May, including Justice Secretary, Leader of the House of Commons and Transport Secretary. He reflected on the political challenges of the last few years, discussing the impact of Brexit, the Covid-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine.
The students all listened intently and asked numerous insightful questions after the talk.
