Photography Teacher Exhibits Work at The Polar Museum

Lucy Carty exhibits work inspired by her once in a lifetime journey to Antarctica, as Artist in Residence for the Friends of The Scott Polar Research Institute.

We’re incredibly proud to share that Lucy Carty, our talented photography teacher and technician, is currently exhibiting her work at The Polar Museum in Cambridge as part of a new exhibition titled Painting The Poles.

In 2016, Lucy was invited to travel to Antarctica aboard HMS Protector as an Artist in Residence for the Friends of The Scott Polar Research Institute—a truly once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! Her stunning artwork, inspired by the breathtaking and fragile polar landscapes she experienced firsthand, is now being showcased alongside pieces by eight other artists who have also taken part in the residency programme.

The exhibition was opened by Dafila Scott, granddaughter of the legendary explorer Captain Scott, and highlights the urgent beauty of our changing planet.

If you’re in or around Cambridge, Painting The Poles is on display until 25 August 2025, and the museum is open Tuesdays to Saturdays, 10am–4pm. Don’t miss this chance to see Lucy’s inspiring work in such a special setting.
