OE Medical Society Dinner 2024

Celebrating 25 Years of the OE Medical Society.

The OE Medical Society held its esteemed annual dinner on Friday, 15th November, at the historic Apothecaries’ Hall in London. This year’s event was particularly special, as it marked the 25th anniversary of the Society’s founding – a significant milestone in its proud history.

The popular event drew OEs from across the medical spectrum, including doctors, surgeons, dentists, and veterinarians, in a celebration of professional achievement and shared heritage. Beyond its role as a reunion for seasoned medical professionals, the dinner provides an invaluable opportunity for Epsom College’s aspiring medics. Current students with ambitions in healthcare are always invited to engage with alumni, gaining first hand insight into the realities of medical careers.

The event epitomizes the College’s founding principles of Benevolence and Excellence, fostering a supportive network where experience and knowledge are passed down through generations. By bridging the gap between alumni and students, the OE Medical Society Dinner continues to inspire and prepare the next wave of healthcare pioneers.

At the dinner, we expressed our heartfelt gratitude to the outgoing President, David Melville, for his outstanding service, dedication, and commitment over the past three years. Under his leadership, the OE Medical Society has continued to thrive, and we are now excited to hand the Presidential mantle to OE Bryan Mayou. Bryan was instrumental in securing the venue for this years’ dinner.

The Apothecaries’ Hall,  located in the heart of London, is one of the city’s most historic and prestigious venues. Built in 1672, it is the oldest extant livery hall in the capital, home to the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries. The Hall has long been a symbol of excellence in the medical and pharmaceutical professions, making it such a fitting location and remarkable backdrop for the OE Medical Society’s 25th Anniversary Dinner.

We would also like to thank our guest speaker, OE Paul Knapman for his unwavering patronage of the OE Medical Society. As the founding member we are very grateful to him for all he continues to do in support of the College and our medical community. Paul led an inspiring tour of the Hall before dinner commenced and delivered an informative and illuminating speech.

The OE Club and Development Department are so appreciative to the OE Medical Community, the stalwart backbone to Epsom College, and were thrilled to host such a memorable evening steeped in tradition.
