The College was delighted to host the OE Medical Society Dinner on Saturday, 26th March. The Society’s annual dinner was last held in March 2020, and was the final OE event before the country went into lockdown. OE Medical Society President, David Melville (R 1967-71), welcomed nearly 70 OEs, parents, current and former members of staff, and Sixth Form students in Main Hall, and Upper Sixth student, Katya Millard said Grace.
In between courses there were speeches from Headmaster, Jay Piggot, who updated guests on the College’s progress and achievements, and Ian Maheswaran (R 1991-96), who spoke about education. Ian, who was Head of School, explained how the lessons he learnt at Epsom, both academic and on the sports pitch, extended into his medical career and taught him about leadership and team work.
This was the first event for David Melville in his new role as President of the Society, and he looks forward to hosting future events for OEs and members of the College community who work in healthcare. David welcomes all ideas and plans to expand the Society’s activities during his tenure. In the first instance, OEs are invited to join the OE Medical Society group on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/groups/7460582.
The Society’s next dinner will be held at Governors’ Hall, St Thomas’ Hospital on 3rd March 2023.
