After a two-year hiatus, the OE Club was delighted to host the OE Dinner again. OEs, together with current and former members of staff, gathered in Main Hall on Saturday, where they enjoyed good company and fine food.
A group of 1990-92 leavers came to celebrate 30 years since they left the College, and a party of 1977-78 leavers also had a mini-reunion.
This was Headmaster Jay Piggot’s last formal OE event before he retires this summer. Chair of Governors, Dr Alastair Wells (F 1973-78) paid tribute to Jay’s 10-year tenure, following which Jay was presented with an OE tie. Jay and his wife, Poppy, were also given leaving gifts from the OE Club.
OE Club President, Christian Elliott (Fa 1991-96), was finally able to present Mike Hobbs with his OE tie, as Mike becomes an Honorary OE following his retirement in 2020. Mike taught Biology at the College for 39 years and was Housemaster of Forest from 1988 to 2003. Christian spoke warmly of his former teacher and read out memories and accolades from some of Mike’s Forest boys and their parents.
