Epsom students and parents listened intently to our panel of speakers, which included OE and marine biologist, Jack Clarke, and experts from sustainability in investment and communications.
Our speakers shared insights and advice with students and their parents about how to break into the sector, what qualifications to aim for, and how the world of green careers developing. A few themes ran through the evening. Our guests:
- urged students to take more risks
- encouraged students to follow a passion
- reassured students that the sector was large and growing all the time
All of our speakers encouraged the students to follow Client Earth and said: “No matter where we work, every job is a climate job now.”
“All the contributors were incredibly interesting” – Julia Davis (parent).
As part of our ongoing careers support, our next event is about careers in public service (government, politics, charity and civil service), and will be held on Tuesday 26 November.
The events are open to the whole College community, including staff. Member of staff, Lucy Busby, attended the Green careers evening and said: “The speakers had really good advice on how to get into the sustainability industry and what to do as a recent graduate. I was able to speak with a few of them afterwards and pick their brains, which provided even more valuable insights.”
