This week the College has been marking Neurodiversity Celebration Week, an initiative founded by Siena Castellon to improve knowledge and understanding amongst our community, as well as to challenge misconceptions about neurological differences. During their PSD lessons and tutor times this week pupils have had the opportunity to explore, discuss and learn more about neurodiversity and recognise the many strengths and talents that each individual may have.
Pupils enjoyed hearing about the topics discussed and said the following;
“I have learnt that many of the famous people who I admire have a learning disability.”
“I’ve learnt that being neurodivergent doesn’t lower intelligence and could even enhance it.”
“I learnt that neurodiversity, can take many forms and maybe being ‘different’ it’s not a bad thing.”
“I think that learning about how common learning disorders are and famous people we know with them has helped to understand neurodiversity.”
