The Lower Sixth Music Scholars and A-level pupils, joined by Mr Wickham and Miss Widdicombe, took a trip Grange Park Opera on Wednesday to see the Puccini masterpiece Tosca.
The stage design was mesmerising and the singing extraordinary, particularly Otar Jorjikia’s rousing rendition of Cavaradossi, and in the interval the idyllic surrounding countryside played host to a leisurely summer picnic.
For many of the cohort this was among their first few opera experiences, and as the minibus rumbled into college at 10.40pm it was clear that the musical character of all present had been thoroughly enriched.
