Third Form pupil, Holly Justice (Hu), competed in the Surrey Girls Championships at West Hill and won the U13s competition. Over the morning’s 18 holes, Holly shot a gross 84, +10 over par (11 under her handicap at the time).
Holly reflected on the competition, “When I played at West Hill Golf Club, I was a bit nervous as it was one of my first Surrey Competitions in a while. On the front nine I made quite a few mistakes but I worked through them focusing on the good not the bad.
“The back nine holes were the best I’ve probably ever played, making very few mistakes and only shooting 1 over par, with back-to-back birdies on 14 and 15.
“I hadn’t been focusing too much on the score, so when I finished the round and my dad told me I had shot 10 over par, I was amazed. It felt brilliant to win a semi-major competition and to be congratulated by many people who inspire me. Overall it was a great experience and I am glad I entered.”
