Helen Davis, a chartered sport psychologist with experience of working with athletes of a similar age to our students, engaged pupils with a combination of interactive activities and detailed examples of her work.
The topic of the talk was ‘Performance Habits’ and was split into key sections. The first was effective goal setting which involved forming a key outcome goal, performance goals to signpost progression, and process goals to create a daily focus. The second highlighted the difference between a Challenge Mindset and a Threat Mindset, before moving on to how to effectively review performance.
Overall, Helen’s talk was very well received by the students, many of whom were intently taking notes throughout. Everyone in attendance was very interested to hear Helen’s insight on this topic.
