The girls’ athletics team, including athletes from the Lower School, travelled to St Mary’s, Ascot. Despite missing a number of athletes, the girls performed extremely well and finished first overall in what was a very competitive match against Bradfield, Godstowe Prep, Downe House, Reeds, Queen Anne’s, Marlborough College, Wycombe Abbey and the hosts, St Mary’s.
Top performer was Grace Crompton (R) who won the 200m, the Triple Jump and the Long Jump, and anchored the sprint relay team to victory.
Ella Beswick (W) won the Inter 300m race, while in the juniors Sophie Edison (M) also won the 300m for the second week running, as did Thea Thompson-Brown (R) in the 75m hurdles. Delphine Ayitey-Hammond (Rv) won the Shot Putt and Meredith Briggs (Rv) the Javelin.
Among the Lower School performers, Amelia Burke (Wa) set a new age group Long Jump record in her victory, while there were also wins for Amber Roberts (GH) in the Discus and Gina Carrington (Wa) in the 1550m.
