Last week the regional qualifier for the European Space Agency CANSAT competition was held at Epsom College.
The competition requires each school to write a 50-page report and build a satellite that transmits data, as it is dropped from 400 feet.
Last Friday the participants, from nine schools, dropped their satellites from a drone or helikite from high above the Chuds.
Epsom’s entry performed exactly as programmed: it released, sent atmospheric data on the way down, deployed a second parachute just before impact, and continued to send data on the ground.
Results are due next week but we are confident of a place in the National Final.
