The children from Eaton House The Manor Boys’ School, Falcons School for Girls, Hurlingham. Kew Green Prep, Seaton House, Surbiton Boys’ Prep School, Ursuline Prep and Wallace Fields enjoyed a fun day of musical exploration.
Every year Epsom’s Director of Music, Paul Johnson-Hyde, hosts the festival and chooses a theme for the occasion, this year the theme was around jazz and blues music. The day was jampacked with rehearsals, where the children learnt six songs from Swing Low, Sweet Chariot, It Don’t Mean A Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing) and I Wanna Be Like You from Disney’s Jungle Book.
The children also enjoyed both solo and Part Song performances from Epsom pupils from last week’s Inter House Choral Competition during the afternoon.
Epsom’s Director of Music, Paul Johnson-Hyde, said:
“It has been a fantastic day of music-making, they really found their groove with the jazz theme and had impressive energy throughout the day of rehearsals, which lead to a superb concert that delighted the audience of parents and guests.”
