On Wednesday, Epsom’s U14 Squash team secured the College’s first ever victory in the National Schools Final. Not to be outdone, the following day the U16s also emerged as national champions. The U18s step out on court in today’s finals, with results still to be decided.
Having beaten Gosforth in the quarter finals and St Paul’s in the semis, the U16s faced up against an impressive King Edward’s School in the final. Both teams were incredibly closely-matched, and three of the matches went to nail-biting deciding games. However, after two-and-a-half hours of high-quality squash, Epsom emerged victorious by a 3-2 margin.
The U14s final against St Aidan’s was equally tough, with the young team eventually pulling away 3-2 winners. Their path to the final saw them compete against Aylesbury in the quarters, and Wycliffe in the semis, winning each round 3-2.
The teams were:
U14 – Ronnie Hickling (C), Zach Woolven (C), Luke McBride (GH), Finn Vowles (Wa), Luca Nicolosi (GH), Rhyen Patel (Wa)
U16 – Ronnie Hickling (C), Luke Camfield (P), Zach Woolven (C), Wilf Baker (Fa), Luke McBride (GH)
