Izzy Hutton

A notable highlight of the event was the impressive performances by the pupils at the College, who demonstrated their skill and resilience on the national stage. Izzy Hutton captured third place in a fiercely contested division. She came up against Nia Thomas (Welsh no 1) in the quarter finals, with a powerful attacking play and remarkable resilience under pressure on the glass court. In the semi-finals she faced Renatta Colabella in a high-paced match but was edged out in a tight contest. Nevertheless, Izzy’s determination to bounce back in the third-place playoff proved her mental toughness, and she took home the bronze medal with an outstanding performance.

Luke McBride

Luke McBride also made his mark in the U17 category, finishing third after a dominant display in the consolation match. Luke’s tactical intelligence and physical conditioning were evident throughout the tournament, and his performance in the third-place playoff was exceptional, securing him a deserved podium spot. This result is a clear indication of Luke’s growing presence on the Junior Squash circuit.

Ronnie Hickling

Another standout performance was from Ronnie Hickling, despite being ill across the weekend, he managed to secure second place in a gripping final. Ronnie’s consistent performance throughout the tournament was a testament to his hard work and dedication. In the final, he faced George Griffiths, and fought valiantly.
