Epsom College Shines in the Boys’ U17 Category
The Epsom College players delivered highly commendable performances. Indie Flint faced Ali Khalil in the semi-final, beating him 3-1, taking him into the final of the Boys’ U17. On the other side of the draw – Luke McBride played Gabriel Chak, beating him 3-1 in a nail-biting match, taking him into the finals to play Indie. With very few errors, Luke McBride clinched the trophy – beating Indie 3-0 in the finals. This is a great accomplishment for both players, and their advancement into the finals shows their skill and dedication to the sport.
Ronnie Hickling’s Strong Performance in the Boys’ U19
Earlier in January, Ronnie Hickling competed in the British Junior Open and recently the Gloucester Junior Open (GJO). He faced Dylan Roberts in the semi-finals of the GJO and lost in the semi-finals 3-0. Both players had another semi-finals match against each other in the English Junior Championships this weekend. This time the shoe was on the other foot, Ronnie left nothing on the court – beating him 3-0 (11-4, 11-7, 11-8). This took him into the finals to play the no.1 seed Alex Broadbridge where he just lost out 3-0 (13-11, 11-2, 11-6) finishing in second place.
