Over the summer a record number of Lower Sixth (this year’s Upper Sixth) students took part in the Duke of Edinburgh Gold assessed expedition.
Forty-six students travelled to the Lake District to take part in a four-day trek through one of the UK’s most beautiful yet imposing National Parks.
Hiking in remote and difficult terrain for eight hours or more each day, for four consecutive days – while carrying all food and equipment – is a truly exceptional achievement, and all who took part should be proud.
There is no guarantee of passing, however we are delighted to report that 45 candidates successfully completed the expedition. They enjoyed a celebratory meal of pizza and pasta afterwards, which was thoroughly well deserved.
The students were accompanied by Mr Luke Baker, Ms Natalie Bubbear and Miss Alex Wayne, under the leadership of Mr Dan Reeve. All three had nothing but praise for the exceptional effort and tenacity shown by the pupils.
Applications are currently being accepted from the current Lower Sixth to join this prestigious and ever popular qualification for the coming year. Please contact Dan Reeve, Head of DofE for further details.
