It was fantastic to see so many of our Crawfurd family return for an afternoon tea party on Sunday 19th November, to give thanks to Jill Ballinger for her incredible dedication to the College since 2006, particularly as Matron of Crawfurd over the last 10 years.
We also celebrated Leah Skipper, the current HMM Crawfurd, who is moving to become Head of Lower School at Christmas.
We were delighted to host the event in the newly built Mermaid café, joyfully commemorating with 30 OE’s, over 35 current parents, and of course the current Crawfurd girls.
Helen Tranter, Director of Development briefly welcomed our guests before Leah took to the stage, speaking fondly of her time in Crawfurd, the girls and the daily routine, and just how hugely integral Jill has been to all those in Crawfurd. Julie Morris, (Deputy HMM) then spoke with love and admiration for both Leah and Jill.
The warm feeling of community and care was so apparent, and the obvious joy on the girls faces as they reunited and reminisced was such a pleasure to witness. Cakes, sandwiches and scones were enjoyed with tea and fizz and we thank the College catering team for providing us with such an impressive spread as always.
We really enjoyed the afternoon, full of emotion, smiles, laughter, and of course a few tears. We would like to thank all those who came along to show their support and appreciation for Jill and Leah, whose impact will undoubtedly still shine on Crawfurd House for many more years to come.
