This week we visited our ceramics studio where Miss Greenbury runs Pottery sessions. Another popular club, there are weekly Junior and Senior Pottery activities available for pupils to sign up to. We spoke to Year 7 pupil, Katie Alton, about her experience so far this term.
Q. What made you choose Pottery as your activity and how long have you been doing it?
My friend and I signed up for Pottery at the beginning of this term as we thought it would be a fun, engaging, and creative experience. We both wanted to try something new and, as we love Art, we signed up to Pottery.
Q. What do you do each week?
In these past few weeks, we have been making a small mug. It is amazing how many techniques there are to complete it. Miss Greenbury has been very helpful and has taught us many new things about pottery that I had never come across before.
Q. What has been your favourite thing about it/what do you enjoy most about it?
My favourite thing about Pottery Club is learning the process. It is incredible how just a piece of clay can be turned into something functional, that you can use daily.
Q. Why should someone choose to do Pottery Club?
If you are looking for a fun and creative club where you can meet lots of new people, I would recommend Pottery Club. You don’t have to be very good to come along – I definitely wasn’t! We make lots of fun projects, such as a mug, which we cut, molded and painted all on our own (with some help from Miss Greenbury). It is a brilliant learning experience, especially if you haven’t done it before.
