The A-level students were guided through several advanced practical techniques involved in the extraction of the natural product trimyristin from nutmeg, before characterising their compounds using analytical techniques including infra-red spectroscopy.
The students had a fantastic afternoon out, and were guided in their endeavours by a group of enthusiastic, post-doctoral students from the University.
