Charlie, who turns 17 this September, has been a regular in Wales U17s qualifiers throughout this season. The defender has played in three of Wales’ qualifiers, against Sweden, Bulgaria and Romania. Wales won each game 2-1, ensuring safe passage to the finals, which begin next month in Cyprus.
The team will now face the tough opposition of Austria, Croatia and Denmark, knowing they have to be in the top two to continue through. The first match, against Denmark, kicks off at 4pm on Monday 20 May.
Charlie, a Year 11 pupil on the brink of taking his GCSEs, made his first appearance for Crystal Palace Under-18s in September 2023, coming on as a substitute against Fulham. He started his first game for the U18s a week later against Brighton & Hove Albion.
With a total of seven appearances in Palace’s U18s this season, and four starts to his name, Charlie kept a clean sheet in the side’s recent 1-0 win over Aston Villa.
Congratulations to Charlie – everyone at Epsom wishes him well for the Euros next month.
