Brandon McGuinness wins Best Male Solo Award

Year 10 pupil, Brandon McGuinness, has won Best Male Musical Solo at this year’s National School Theatre Awards

This year’s school musical was The Addams Family, and among many highlights, Brandon McGuinness’s performance as Fester (praised at the time for his ‘comic timing, clear diction and superlative singing’) caught the attention of a judge from the National School Theatre Awards who was in attendance.

The judges were so impressed with what they saw – not just from Brandon, but by the whole ensemble – that they invited the cast to perform the show’s The Moon and Me scene at the awards ceremony.

The talented cast spent the day experiencing the Award Ceremony’s technical rehearsal before getting into costume for the evening ceremony. After enjoying some excellent performances from other schools, it was Epsom’s turn to wow the audience with their slick, professional and highly-enjoyable performance, which received loud cheers and huge applause.

Many congratulations to the entire cast of The Addams Family, and notably to Brandon, for achieving well-deserved national recognition.
