In Football, many teams started their league campaign with positive results, while overall there were 12 wins and two draws in 20 matches.
The 1st team returned from Radley with an excellent 2-1 win thanks to goals from Jaami Qureshi (P) and George Dignum (Rn), despite losing key players to injury. There was also a league win for the 3rd team.
In the junior sides, the U16s started the season well. The A team won 5-0 in their league match, Zac Alfalahi (C) scoring twice. The B team also won their opening league match, 4-2, with Josh Hirtenstein (Rn) starring in a very strong performance. The C and D teams lost close matches.
The U15A and B teams both won their opening league matches. The A team missed several good chances and needed an own goal to settle their match 1-0, with Sam Waugh (F) the standout player. The B team found their opposition easier, scoring six goals and missing many more chances. Callum Sharp (H) and Will Harris (Fa) scored two goals apiece, while Cosmo Mullen (P) performed superbly.
In the U14s all three teams beat Worth comfortably. Joss Wells (Fa) scored two goals in the A team’s 4-1 win, Nihal Patel (Rn) scored and was player of the match in the B team’s 3-0 win, while the first hat-tricks of the season were scored in the C team, Ollie Busby (P) and Freddie Dougherty (Fa) scoring three each in the team’s 9-2 victory.
In the Lower School, the U12A, B and C teams all beat Dunottar, with Freddie Carty (Je) and Lorenzo Lentini (Wa) scoring two goals each, while the U13As drew their game.
On Thursday, the 1st XI bowed out of the London Independent Schools’ Cup to a strong Whitgift side – Thomas Keevil (C) scoring Epsom’s consolation goal in a player of the match display alongside Josh Shayesteh (Rn).
