In a bumper end-of-term for Lower School Music, the College’s youngest musicians performed at Chapel Choir Evensong and in the Lent Term Lower School Concert.
The first event, on Tuesday, saw pupils take to the stage at the Lower School Concert in Big School. The Lower School Musicians presented another polished concert to an appreciative audience of peers, parents and staff.
The concert opened with the Lower School Orchestra (pictured) performing the theme from Marvel’s The Avengers and Gustav Holst’s rousing Jupiter.
A large number of pupils performed solos to a very high standards, including classical, musical theatre, and pop music genres. The Junior Blues Group performed several stylish numbers featuring several accomplished solos, and the event was rounded off by the Lower School Chapel Choir, singing ahead of their Evensong at St Martin’s on Wednesday.
Tuesday’s performance clearly served the Chapel Choir well as on Wednesday, they headed down the hill to St Martin’s of Tours Church, where they led a service of evensong. The 21 pupils had 25 minutes of liturgical music to prepare and perform, and they did so exceptionally.
The event was warmly received by the community, with regular members of the congregation praising the pupils’ power and commitment. The event was also live-streamed to members of the church who couldn’t attend the service (see below).
