A Celebration of Musical Talent at the Ensembles Concert

The Ensembles Concert was a captivating showcase of high-quality musical making, featuring over 130 pupils

The Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Mr Freddy Wickham, opened with the famous first movement of Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony.

The Concert Band, under the direction of Mr Paul Johnson-Hyde, offered a diverse repertoire, including To Seek the Glorious by Paul Murtha and I Am The Doctor theme from Dr Who, by Murray Gold.

The close-harmony singing at the College continues to go from strength to strength with impressive performances from the Girls’ Acapella and the Barbershop groups.

This year the Lower School Orchestra and Junior Blues Group performed alongside the senior musicians. The orchestra played the second movement of Beethoven’s Symphony No.7 alongside Libertango by Piazzolla.

The evening concluded with the Big Band, directed by Mr Freddy Wickham, featured an arrangement of Fever.

This concert celebrated the flourishing instrumental tradition of the Music Department as well as the dedication and passion of our talented pupils and staff.
