Joining Our Sixth Form (16+) | Epsom College

Each year we welcome around 35 new students to the Sixth Form. We are looking for young men and women who are well-rounded and academically able. We want our students to lead rich and varied lives, contribute to the life of the College and our community, and have interests that stretch beyond the confines of the curriculum.

Entry Requirements

To be considered for a place in our Sixth Form you will need a grade average of 6.5 across all your GCSEs, with at least a Grade 7 in the subjects you wish to study at A-level. You must have at least Grade 8 for the more technical subjects, such as Maths, sciences and modern languages.

Year 10 Open Mornings

Open Mornings are the best way to see Epsom. You will be shown around the College by your own personal pupil guide, taken into departments, Houses, the Lower School and any other areas you wish to see.

Senior staff and Admissions colleagues will be available throughout the morning to talk in more detail about the College and answer any questions you have.

The next event will be on 22 March, 2025. Pre-registration for this event will open toward the end of this term.

Year 10 & 11 College Tour

Tours for this term are now fully booked. Dates for next term’s tours will be published toward the end of November, when bookings will open to families.

Our College tours are much smaller in scale than an Open Morning, and allow you to see the College on a normal working day. You will hear a short welcome from the Head, take a tour of the College with two pupils, and then have the chance to chat to senior staff over refreshments.

October, Year 11 Application

The deadline for applications to join us in September 2025 has now passed.

Applications for September 2026 will open summer 2025.

Applications must include a 1,000-word personal statement and end of Year 10 school report. Personal statements should include:

  • academic strengths
  • interests and achievements outside the classroom
  • reasons for choosing Epsom College
  • aspirations after A-levels

November, Year 11 Interviews & Scholarships

  • Interviews take place the weeks beginning 11, 18 and 25 November 2024.
  • Assessments for Academic Scholarships will be held on 13 November.
  • Assessment dates for Drama, Music and Sport Scholarships will be confirmed nearer the time.

Please note, due to high demand we are unable to interview every applicant. We don’t want to give anyone false hope where we believe there is little chance of a place being offered.

Candidates are shortlisted based on the information provided in their application, their personal statement, and school reference.

December, Year 11 Conditional Places Offered

We make offers following careful evaluation of the performance of each shortlisted candidate.

We will also consider the make-up of the year group, ensuring that there is a good balance of personalities, interests and abilities. This is a vital part of the process, as we know that the success of your time at Epsom relies on you being part of a happy, well-balanced community.

Conditional places will be offered in early December. More places may become available to those on the waiting list at any time up to the following September.

August, Year 11 Places Confirmed

Your place will move from ‘conditional’ to ‘unconditional’ as soon as we are in receipt of your GCSE grades and have confirmed that our entry requirements have been met.
