Epsom pupils hosted a Kitchen Table Day for Maggie’s at The Royal Marsden. Pupils and staff donated homemade cakes to celebrate the Centre’s official second anniversary. Special thanks to the pupils who take part in our service programme, Matrons from Murrell and Crawfurd, the College Catering, and members of staff. The event raised over £200.
This is the latest in a series of initiatives by our pupils in support of Maggie’s – a refuge that offers support to families of cancer patients.
Throughout November, our pupils were instrumental in Maggie’s Christmas party fundraiser, creating handmade Christmas cards and decorations, designing posters, and even performing music on the night. Pupils also learnt how to knit and crochet, in order to make head-warmers for those suffering hair loss. In addition, a small number of pupils visited weekly to help with keeping the garden area tidy.
Bryn, Centre Head at Maggie’s at The Royal Marsden said, “We really can’t thank you enough for your support. The money will be enough for 33 people living with cancer to have a 1:1 session with our Clinical Psychologist to help reduce their anxiety. We really are ever so grateful for your support and this truly will make such a positive difference to all the families who visit our centre. We really can’t thank Epsom College enough for the support they have shown us over the past five months. Their Kitchen Table Day was such a huge success and all the money raised from this event will make such a positive difference to all the families who visit our centre. It’s because of the generosity of groups like Epsom College that we are able to keep our doors open and continue to support people living with cancer during this difficult time.”
