Fayrer House hosted their Soirée on Tuesday 8 February. The evening saw talented Fayrer students take to the stage to act, dance, play instruments and sing. The Head of House, Fraser Spalding, hosted the evening with humorous and insightful introductions to each act. The show began with the Middle Fourth performing Monty Python’s Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life, choreographed and directed by Mr Wycherley.
The Upper Fourth took to the stage next for a rousing rendition of Elton John’s I’m Still Standing, the irony being that half of the year group had been struck down with illness. Wonderful solos followed from Ronny Dogra on saxophone, Jason Churcher singing Waving Through A Window and Ed Green singing Shut Up And Dance. A highlight of the night was Chris Lusala’s contemporary dance piece to When It All Falls Down, which received rousing applause.
We had a lesson in acting from Lexy Poulton performing a Fraser Spalding adaptation of Show That Goes Wrong. This starred fellow Upper Sixth formers Seb Crabb, Raffi Harley, Alex McWilliam, Jason Kitcatt and Calum Ruth.
Upper Fourth, Taanish Chiba, performed Day Tripper by the Beatles on guitar before Fifth Former, Finn McLennan-Fordyce, reprised his excellent Choral Competition solo of Avicii’s Wake me Up.
The parents were then treated to a performance of the House Unison song I Will Survive segueing into Ain’t Nobody, arranged by Solomon Ekoku. The night’s entertainment was rounded off by the Upper Sixth band (Solomon Ekoku, Fraser Spalding, Raffi Harley and Lexy Poulton featuring Upper Fourth pupil Ed Green), playing Don’t Stop Me Now, Jonny B Goode and The Thrill Is Gone.
We all then headed to the Dining Hall for a wonderful meal – this was really enjoyable for all the parents, something they were all grateful for after the last two years. A big thank you to the catering team for a wonderful dinner and all those who made it a special evening.
