Two pupils in the Lower Sixth, Yan Mezhebytskyi and Lilyrose Taylor-Fitzgibbon, represented the College in the regional round of the Oxford Schools’ debating competition on Thursday 27 January.
They were given 15 minutes to prepare for two motions. The first was “This house would require at least 50% of national parliaments to be female”; the second was “This house believes that professional sportsmen and women are good role models.”
Yan and Lilyrose impressed the judges and were one of the six (out of 44) teams to progress to Finals Day, which will be held on Saturday 12 March, hopefully in person, at Oxford University.
This is an excellent achievement and Yan and Lilyrose should be proud of their performances.
