With Covid still impacting school life, many schools struggled to get teams out this term. Last-minute cancellations and depleted rosters took their toll, but our participation rates remained high.
Across the whole School, almost 70% of pupils took part in competitive fixtures. 99% of Lower School pupils competed for their school, with an impressive 92% of Middle Fourth and 96% of Upper Fourth pulling on the team jerseys.
Among those fixtures, Epsom enjoyed impressive results.
Rugby
- We fielded 23 teams and played 149 fixtures.
- The U12As went through the season with a 100% record (7 matches, 7 wins)
- Six other teams suffered just one defeat, including all the U14 teams (ABCD) and the 3rd XV
- Over half of all matches were won in a tough fixture card
Hockey
- 24 teams played a total of 188 fixtures
- Four teams went through the regular season unbeaten:
- 2nd XI (10 matches, 9 wins 1 draw)
- U15C (9 matches, 6 wins 3 draws)
- U14A (8 matches, 8 wins)
- U13Bs (8 matches, 7 wins, 1 draw)
- In cup matches the U16As were also unbeaten
- 10 other teams only suffered one defeat, with three coming in the final fixture against Hurstpierpoint
- Overall 77% of all matches were won or drawn.
Squash
The senior squash sides also remain unbeaten this term, and have picked up team and individual trophies including both the Division 1 and 2 trophies in the Surrey School Invitational Tournament.
Golf
The senior golfers have picked up silverware and accolades across the term including the Smarden Bell Southern Schools iSGA and Independent Schools Invitational, while the HMC foursomes and ISGA Championships final stages follow after Christmas.
Netball
The U14, U15 and 1st VIIs reached the final stages of the County Tournament, which will be played next term.
Target Rifle
Epsom are the Cadet Target Rifle National Champions, ranking them top out of all schools and cadet units in the country. In the indoor .22 range, Epsom have beaten RGS Guildford, St John’s and the Old Epsomians in the last few weeks.
