Epsom’s golfers secured a top spot at this year’s prestigious Smarden Bell Invitational. The tournament features the leading golfing schools in the south east, and Epsom’s boys emerged victorious in the combined score competition. They came first by a staggering 16 points ahead of Tonbridge and in doing so beat the record score for any team in the tournament’s history by 8 points.

Kris Kim (Fa): 36 Points (2nd place)
Kris played very steady golf, shooting level par, hitting most fairways and holing important putts ensuring a runner-up spot in the singles tournament after a record-equalling score.
Oscar Lent (P): 37 Points (Winner)
Oscar went one better with a record-breaking score in a competition that has been run for 25 years. His gross score of 1 under par made him the first ever player to break par. A strong driving display and approach game to match led to Oscar winning the individual competition. These continued and brilliant rounds makes Oscar a key reason behind Epsom’s strong performances this year.
Will Hewett (H): 27 Points
After a superb 2 under start through 5 holes, Will played steady golf, leading to a top 5 finish.
Alex McWilliam (Fa): 25 points
Throughout the round, Alex drove the ball with supreme accuracy and considerable power. Although there were a few mishaps with his approach play, Alex fought well and his was score reflected with a top 10 position.
Jamie Reid (Rn): 23 Points
Jamie showed great resilience on a challenging course played in tough conditions. However, even through this Jamie fought hard to shoot a respectable score, putting him in the top 15 and making a good contribution for the team.
