Now in its ninth year, the Service Programme at Epsom College is delighted to be working with a new partner, Maggie’s Care, based alongside the Royal Marsden, Sutton, which helps those diagnosed with cancer and their family and friends.
The Sixth Form service pupils will be supporting the centre in different ways:
- Social media/IT support: helping to design and create flyers, posters, and help raise awareness of Maggie’s work and events
- Marketing: supporting events and fundraising
- Christmas party: helping to design and create cards to put into goodie bags, invitations and decorations, as well as helping to set up on the day
- Garden: helping the resident gardener spruce up the visitors’ garden around Maggie’s
- Weekly: befriending anyone visiting the Centre and giving a helping hand at the centre where required
- Knitting: knitting hairbands for those suffering hair loss due to chemo, which will be sold at the Christmas event to raise money
- Music: service musicians to visit to perform short recitals throughout the year
“We are so excited to help Maggie’s and to contribute to the fantastic work they do. During lockdown, Service pupils worked on various projects remotely so it is great that we are now able to go out and volunteer in the community.”
