Epsom College governor and CEO of the Bourne Education Trust, Alex Russell, was awarded an OBE for services to education, in the recent Queen’s Birthday Honours List.
Based in Surrey and Hampshire, the Bourne Education Trust specialises in turning around schools in areas of high socio-economic deprivation and making sure the communities it serves have access to high-quality education. Over the last seven years the Trust has taken eight schools out of special measures. All are now rated as ‘good’ or better.
“It is always gratifying to see worthy individuals in education receiving proper recognition. An OBE is a wonderful distinction and thoroughly well deserved.”
Headmaster, Mr Jay Piggot
